Description:
Deltimox CV 625 Tablet is a combination of Amoxycillin and Clavulanic Acid. It is used for the treatment of bacterial infections that affect the ears, lungs, nose, urinary tract, skin, bones, etc. This medication is effective only for the treatment of infections caused by bacteria.
Mechanism of action:
Amoxicillin: Amoxicillin works by preventing the formation of bacterial cell walls and killing the infection-causing bacteria. Amoxicillin stops the multiplication of bacteria by inhibiting the cell wall synthesis of bacteria. The bacterial cell wall is essential to protect the bacteria from the environment and keep the contents of the bacterial cell together.
Clavulanic acid: Clavulanic acid prevents bacteria from destroying Amoxycillin and ensures extended anti-bacterial activity. Clavulanic acid inactivates the beta-lactamase enzyme by blocking its active sites. Beta-lactamase enzyme is responsible for the development of drug resistance; thus, clavulanic acid enhances the effectiveness of amoxicillin.
Side effects:
Amoxicillin-Clavulanate is generally safe and well-tolerated but some common side effects associated with this combination are abdominal discomfort, headache, nausea, vomiting, heartburn and diarrhea.
Dosage: As per the prescription of a registered medical practitioner.
