Description:
Ketorolac Tromethamine is used for the short-term treatment of moderate to severe pain in adults. It is usually used before or after medical procedures or after surgery, Reducing pain helps you recover more comfortably so that you can return to your normal daily activities. This medication is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), helps in decreasing swelling, pain, or fever.
Mechanism of action:
Ketorolac is non-selective COX inhibitor and inhibits both COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes, the clinical efficacy of ketorolac tromethamine is derived from its COX-2 inhibition. The COX-2 enzyme is inducible and is responsible for converting arachidonic acid to prostaglandins that mediate inflammation and pain, by blocking this pathway, ketorolac achieves analgesia and reduces inflammation.
Side effects:
Common side effects include Upset stomach, nausea & vomiting, constipation.
Dosage: Ketroloac tromethamine Dispersable tablet is taken with a glass full of water either by putting the tablet inside the water or directly swallowing it. Patient should not lie down for about 15 to 30 minutes after taking this medicine. Use this as per the prescription of a registered medical practitioner.
